Well this past weekend my sisters came to beautiful Arizona..... So what did we decide to do???? ROADTRIP!!!! We took a drive out past Tucson to the Wild west... "Tombstone". It was over 3 hours in a 5 seater car so as you can imagine it was a bit cramped. As we were driving in the middle of no where of course I get pulled over doing 74 in a 55 speed zone but luckily Nikki was eating chips and saved me from getting a ticket because cops love chips.... ;) The cop let us go he said it was going to be a $400 dollar ticket, so thanks cop for being nice and thanks Nikki for eating chips. We finally got to our hotel and checked in, and then we went into town took a tour of a place called the "Bird Cage" basically it was whore house, and they gambled too. We started to look into another tour, a ghost tour, but none of us were willing to pay $20 for a tour and the tour guide also was trying to discourage us from going on it because we didn't look like "serious" ghost hunters, but the only thing that stopped us from going was the lack of $$$$. We ate at a delicious BBQ place, went back to the hotel and went swimming. The next day we went back to town did some more shopping and took some more pictures, then got back in the car and drove to our next destination, Kartchner Caverns.
Karchner Caverns is a pretty cool cave near Tombstone. It wasn't discovered till 1974 and didn't open to the public until the 90's. It's different from all the other caves because they are trying to keep it pristine. The only natural opening to the cave was the size of a grapefruit, which the cave finders opened to the size of a wire coat hanger. They drilled two passageways into the cave to give access for the tours but they have 5 or 6 airlocks installed in them, to keep the inside of the cave at it's natural pressure and humidity. And humid it is!!!! The cave stays at 72ยบ and 99% humidity all year round.... after going into the first air lock we almost decided to turn back! But we pressed on and it got better as we got deeper into the actual cave and out of the tunnel. You have to go with a tour group they don't let you wander around like Carlsbad Caverns, but it was fun and informative. The bad part was they didn't allow cameras... :( But here is a stolen pic from the Internet and some from the visitors center.
