I only have one class on Thursdays so Melanie and i decided to go to the Temple in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day here in Arizona, only 106ยบ but as they say, "it's a dry heat"...... We left for the Temple at about 1:30, and found out that it is only 15 minutes away from us, so that is cool. When we were getting our recommends checked at the door the guy asked Melanie if we wanted to do some
sealings. She turned and asked me and I said "Sure, why the hell not?" It was at that point that my guy ripped up my recommend. After I said I was sorry and had a talk with the Temple President they let me in. That little slip up only cost us about a half an hour.
They told us to go to the sealing office, and it was at this point that we told them that we just moved here and have never been to this Temple before. So a nice older lady showed us around, and we found out the Mesa Temple is setup a lot different than other Temples we've been to.
We then split up to go get changed. After I got myself all prettied up, I went to the sealing office, but Melanie had beat me there and had already gone to the sealing room. So the guy in there took me to the sealing room to meet up with her.
As I entered the room I saw my beautiful bride sitting there patiently waiting for me. I had no sooner sat down when they called us up to do some
sealings. After we had done a couple
sealings I noticed that it was pretty hot in that small room. Looking across at my wife I saw a slight glistening on her brow, and I knew that she was feeling the heat too. By this time we were about halfway through another page of
sealings and the thought crossed my mind "I hope she doesn't pass out from the heat". Melanie wasn't looking at me too much and she was a little fidgety, so I was thinking something was up.
When we finished the last sealing on the page Melanie let go of my hand and looked as if she was going to stand up, but instead her head dropped forward really fast and her face slammed into the alter. I tried to grab her but just barely caught her arm as she tipped over sideways and crashed to the floor. I rushed to her side as she was laying there on her back, eyes opened wide. She was blinking and her eyes were moving around but she was still knocked out. I slapped her face and yelled "Don't go to the light!!!!!" After about 20 seconds she came to and told me to stop hitting her. We slowly sat her up and canceled the call to the paramedics when she said she was feeling better. The only damage was done to her pride, and maybe her teeth a little bit, oh and the slight concussion. But don't worry, I didn't let her go to sleep.
I guess the moral of the story is - If you get the feeling that your wife is going to pass out in the Temple you should be prepared to catch her.
"It looks like we got ourselves a Mexican standoff, only we ain't got no Mexicans"
